LassieAS Downloads: On Hiatus

LassieAS download packages got messed up during a versioning mix-up. Nige C. has been helping me restore order and stability to the currently available release. While things are looking better, there still seems to be some problems with the Mac release. I believe the currently available Mac launcher has been stripped down to a useless UNIX binary in the archive. If you download LassieAS but cannot launch it, download the Lassie Director editor copy over it's launcher. The launchers are identical, so should get you up and running. Sorry for the inconvenience and I'll get the LassieAS download sorted out as soon as I can.

WMYT Included in PC Gamer Magazine

Matt Kempke's beautiful game, What Makes You Tick?, got its first big publicity some months ago when it was covered by BBC News. It was a great moment. However, the game has gotten even more attention since being included in the November issue of PC Gamer Magazine. While the write up is short, it includes screenshots and character artwork... AND, the full game was included on the issue's demo disc. Congratulations Matt; this is big publicity!

The Lassie Street Team, Summer '07

It was great summer with Lassie folks world wide. Team Lassie hit the streets to eat pirate food, swill beer and Dr.Pepper, and climb big mountains. Somewhere in there, we had some productive Lassie discussions too... but mostly we just had fun! Read about our adventures in the new featured article.

New WMYT Hosting

It was brought to my attention that some months ago the file service hosting "What Makes You Tick?" switched their advertising to include adult content. We do not endorse this, so I've found a new hosting service to distribute the files. So far their advertising seems better suited for general audiences. Please contact us if the file service is broken on this new host, or if this service also promotes adult content.

And of course, our apologies to all subjected to the previous host's advertising... while we make "G" rated games, we're somewhat at the mercy of these free file hosting services.

"Walkable Areas for Dummies" Article

In response to years worth of questions about how Lassie walkable areas works, I've posted an article on the Shepherd workshop site with a really cool interactive widget that will let you test paths across a box grid. Finally understand Lassie's walkable area model here.

Lassie Shepherd Workshop

Yes, the long-discussed Lassie Shepherd application (Flash-based editor app) is still in production, though no... it's still nowhere near completion. However, I have set up a workshop site to post interface modules as they are built for testing and feedback purposes. You can visit the workshop here.

Also, Lassie Shepherd is an open source application, so I'm making all the source Flash files for each module available. My hope is that this will attract some developers who may want to build components or offer optimization. But of course, if you just want to rip off the interface code for your own projects, feel free.
